A creative lesson teaches music IN REVERSE of how most teachers teach music. The typical format for music instruction usually involves "read-and-play" ONLY "method books" and repertoire. This makes for boring, repetitive practice, anxiety about performance, and feeling disconnected from music (loss of LOVE for music).

At DreaMusic, traditional music education is flipped on its head: instead of focusing all our energy on "read-and-play" - akin to RECITING, ACTING or READING ALOUD in class, we mimic human language learning - beginning first by listening & "speaking" (aka IMPROVISATION & CALL-AND-RESPONSE).

If you "speak" music, it means you can spontaneously invent it (aka IMPROVISE) and you can write it (aka COMPOSITION). Your ability to do so on higher and higher levels depends on learning more VOCABULARY (aka MUSIC THEORY) and ANALYSIS (breaking down the theory in the repertoire).
